K Srikanth beats Micheal Fariman in first round of the World Badminton Championship played at Jakarta just few moments ago. K Srikanth dominated the match and never let Micheal Fariman a chance in the game. K Srikanth is number 3 in the World while his opponent was 206th ranked.
In the first game Micheal Fariman got the first 2 points due to errors made by Srikanth. Srikanth came back and equaled at 2-2. Fariman then took a lead of 4-3 before Srikanth took 3 successive points for 7-4 lead. Both of them took alternate points for a 9-7 lead for Srikanth. At the interval Srikanth led 11-7. After the interval both players took alternate points till 13-10 in favor of Srikanth. Srikanth then played some excellent badminton. At 15-10 Srikanth played a great smash and then next point he played an excellent drop for 17-10 lead. At 19-10 Srikanth played two smashes in a row to win the first game 21-10.
In the second game both players began well taking 1 point each. Srikanth and Fariman took alternate points and equaled at 6-6. Srikanth then took 5 successive points to get into commanding position. At the interval Srikanth led 11-6. After the interval Srikanth continued his dominance over Fariman. At 13-7 Srikanth hit a powerful smash. Fariman took points but Srikanth took the second game 21-13.
Srikanth looked in fine form and needs to perform well in tougher matches ahead which would be his challenge. His next opponent will be Chinese Taipei opponent.
