The big serving Croatian joined another elite club along with his fellow countrymen Goran Ivanisevic on hitting 10,000 plus aces. He managed to achieve this feat in his second round match in the ongoing Rogers cup against Milos Raonic. The 36 year old sent the home favourite Raonic in straight sets. He secured a 7-6 7-6 victory and in the meantime he achieved that Milestone. Now this leaves him just 179 aces behind Ivanisevic.
While Ivanisevic took 895 matches to hit 10,183 matches the 36 year old Karlovic has took just 527 matches to reach 10,000 aces. Karlovic is well on his way to break that record and for a 36 year old it’s highly remarkable.
“I mean, of course, that is my goal,” Karlovic said. “I would hope that it will be this year. If not, it’s OK, also if it’s next year. Hopefully I will be able to do it, be healthy enough, and hopefully it will be soon.”

“Obviously it means a lot to me. I was moving unbelievable this evening,” he said. “Everything was going my way. So I’m really, really happy with my performance tonight. I was really focused and aggressive. I was hitting forehands unbelievable. I was running around. I mean, everything was going my way. That’s why it was this score in the tie-breaks.”
