A day after Panna Lal Shakya, a BJP legislator from Madhya Pradesh, questioned Virat Kohli’s patriotism for tying the knot with Anushka Sharma in Italy, Gautam Gambhir leapt in defence of the India skipper.
Kohli and Anushka tied the knot in Italy last week on Monday (December 11) and had become the talk of the town since sharing the news on Twitter. Eminent personalities from the film fraternity, sports and fans came together to wish the couple a happy married life collectively. However, the politician was not very impressed with the couple’s decision to get married outside of the country. He went on to criticise the decision and questioned the cricketer’s patriotism.

However, Gambhir has defended the couple’s decision and insisted that the politicians should be careful while making comments on such personal matters.
“It is completely their personal matter and choice and nobody should comment on this. Politicians should be more careful while making such comments,” he told Times Now.
Earlier, Panna Lal had said:
“In this country, Ram, Krishna, Vikramaditya, and Yudhisthira got married. And you people might have also married in this country or would get married. But no one among us goes abroad like he has gone. He earned his money and fame in India and took all of it abroad.”
Another BJP leader, Rafiq Wani had also questioned the newlywed’s decision to have their honeymoon abroad. Anushka had posted a selfie from her honeymoon with the caption:“In heaven, literally ??”
“We have such a huge country of 125 crores citizen, if he wanted to get married he could have got married here. There is no issue that he has got married in abroad, it is his choice but for a honeymoon the most beautiful place which is called ‘Heaven on Earth’ is Kashmir. So they should have had their honeymoon here. Then our tourism would have gotten a boost also,” the politician said.
