Manchetser United eased pass with a 3-1 win against Club Brugge in the first leg of Champions League qualifying tie. Going in to the game, Louis Van Gaal decided to use the same starting lineup used in the win over Aston villa last weekend and the team looked ready and determined to get a positive result.

However, the star could not have been worse as Michale Carrick put the way side in front after just 8 minutes with an own goal. Defending a set piece, Carrick hooked a leg and helped the ball roll pass in the goal giving Sergio Romero no chance of saving it.

Fans began to get anxious as the half rolled on but soon the nerves were settled with a magical piece of skill and goal from Memphis Depay. The Dutchman scored his first goal for his new club and in a great way as he riddled pass three Brugge defenders to find the bottom corner and bring the game on level.

The goal settled United in to the game as many players were playing their first European game for Manchester United. Memphis was the hero for United yet again on the 43rd minute when he bettered his first goal by unleashing a deadly strike giving the Brugge keeper no chance of stopping it.

Louis Van Gaal sent Bastian Schweinsteiger in the second half to bring calmness to United’s play and that is exactly what we saw from the Red Devils, however, the intensity had dried up just a little as the home side looked to see out the game.

Deep in to the half, Brugge defender Brendan Machele was shown a red card and the Belgian side were hit by the Belgian Marouane Fellaini in the 94th minute to end the game at 3-1 and give United a sizeable lead going in to the second leg next week tomorrow.
