Fourth Ashes Test, Boxing Day Test, Melbourne

England continued their dominance over the hosts in the fourth Test at the MCG, as they took a 164-run lead in the first innings courtesy a double century (244*) by the experienced and England’s opener Alastair Cook.

Cook batted the entire day and was unbeaten on 244 at stumps on day three. England captain Joe Root got dismissed on 61 while Stuart Broad played a handy knock of 56 runs and combined for a 100 runs partnership with Cook.

Josh Hazelwood, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon picked up three wickets each for the hosts. The tourists ended day three at 491/9.

South Africa vs Zimbabwe, Four Day Test, Port Elizabeth

South Africa won the historic first ever four-day Day-night Test on the second day of the match, as the tourists were bundled out for 68 in the first innings and then on 121 in the second innings.

Morne Morkel picked up a five-wicket haul in the first innings, while Keshav Maharaj picked up a five-wicket haul in the second innings to help win the match for South Africa.

The hosts won the match by an innings and 120 runs.

Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the league table by 15 points courtesy a Raheem Sterling’s clean finish in the first half, as the scoreline ended at 1-0.

With this win City now has 58 points in 20 matches.

Liverpool Sign Virgil Van Dijk

Liverpool football club has agreed to sign defender Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton for a club record fee of 75 million Euros. It is also the record fee for a defender. Van Dijk will wear the No. 4 shirt upon his arrival at the Anfield.
