A day before its Working Committee meeting on August 28 in Kolkata, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a meeting of the IPL Governing Council in the same city. This will be the first platform on which the working group, formed after the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha Committee suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for two years due to their owners’ misconduct, will share its findings and suggest the way forward.
BCCI has scheduled the IPL Governing Council on August 27, a day before the Working Committee meeting in Kolkata.
This will be the first time the three-member working group is headed by IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla and includes former captain Sourav Ganguly, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary, besides legal advisor Usha Nath Banerjee.
The working group was formed after the supreme Court -appointed Justice Lodha Committee suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for two years as their officials were found guilty of betting, will share its finding and suggests the way forward for IPL 9. In the past weeks, the group met several franchises and sponsors to take their suggestions before making the recommendations.
