India’s highest victory in margins of runs came against Australia at Mohali in the year 2008, the series which was marked as the farewell series of Indian greats Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly. India defeated the visitors by a huge margin of 320 runs which is still a record for India.
India’s second best victory in terms of margin of runs also came at home against South Africa in the year 1996. Although, India struggled to put a huge first innings total in the first innings Indian bowling contained the Proteas batsman in their first innings. However, India didn’t repeat the same mistake as a huge century from Mohammad Azharuddin put India in command. Chasing a target of 460, South Africa failed to respond once again which saw them losing by a margin of 280 runs.
