Indian players are not allowed in the PCB’s franchise-based T20 league in Doha

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said it will host franchise-based T20 League Pakistan League in Doha, Qatar, next year. 40 players from nine Test nations have agreed to play in this tournament, only the Indian players are not allowed. The inaugural PSL will be comprised of five franchises. The 20-day tournament will have total 24 matches will start on February 4 and the final will be held on February 24. The total prize pot will be $ 1 million.

PSL Governing Council chairman Najam Sethi said on Wednesday that top foreign coaches will lead teams in the first edition of the event. Sethi says that rights for broadcast, sponsorship and franchise ownership will be sold over the next three months. The tournament will be formally launched in Lahore in late September.

 

Pakistani players have not allowed in IPL since the 2008 terrorist attack in Mumbai. Even the bilateral series between two arch rival India and Pakistan did not resume since then. PCB’s T20 venture is actually an answer to cash-rich Indian premier league.

In Pakistan, none of the foreign players will be agreed to play because of the rampant terrorism attacks. So PCB opted for Middle East country Qatar, where the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Qatar is not known as cricket loving country. But, many migrant people from Pakistani live in Qatar.
