According to German magazine “Kicker”, VfL Wolfsburg are closing in on a deal for 21-year-old Dennis Praet. It is reported that the RSC Anderlecht midfielder will join for a fee of £7m.
The Belgium international is seen as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who is set to sign for Manchester City.
The 21-year-old Belgian attacking midfielder is one of the hottest prospects in world football and Wolfsburg have invested the huge money they are set to get from the oil-rich club in the sensational young midfielder. Praet will replace his compatriot Kevin De Bruyne at Volkswagen Arena who is likely to sign for Manchester City anytime soon and has been pictured moving out from Wolfsburg and in Manchester also.
Praet is capped for every youth level in Belgium with 38 caps for different Belgian youth national setups and has been capped once for the senior team as well. He was awarded Belgian Golden Shoe for his impressive display with Anderlecht in 2014.
He is three times Belgian Pro League winner and three times Belgian Cup winner. Praet spent most of his youth career with Genk, where he quickly made an impression. Within Genk, he was part of a strong generation and scouts considered him one of the top talents. He became part of Belgium’s youth teams and attracted the interest of clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona, Ajax and Lille.
In May 2010, he transferred from Genk to Anderlecht. Praet debuted in Anderlecht’s main team on 21 September 2011 and gradually became a key player for the Belgian giants. He appeared 137 times for Anderlecht in all competitions and scored 22 goals and assisted 30 times.
On 6 November 2014, Dennis received his first call up to the senior Belgian squad for the friendly at home to Iceland on 12 November, and the Euro 2016 Qualifier against Wales on 16 November. He made his senior international début coming on as a 76th-minute substitute for Christian Benteke after all four goals had been scored in the 3-1 friendly win over Iceland in Brussels.
