Novak Djokovic eases through to the second round with his 6-1,6-1,6-1 victory over the Portuguese Joao Sousa. The 28-year-old was absolutely dominant since the opening set giving absolutely no chance for the Portuguese to dictate play.

Novak Djokovic is coming into the tournament without winning any ATP 1000 masters in Montreal and Cincinnati which was a surprise with the form he was in the 2015 season. But Djokovic has made a strong statement with his dominating victory over Sousa.

Djokovic hit 8 aces and maintained a high 75% of the first serve and won 92% of the first serve points. Sousa’s serving was pretty poor as he maintained just 54% of the first serve. Djokovic was impressive at the net to winning 10 out of 14 points. While the world no.1 made just 7 unforced errors Sousa was very poor as he made 27 unforced errors. The Serb was mighty impressive with his break point conversion as he converted 7 break points on 10 occasions and never allowed the Portuguese to break his serve at least once.
