Roger Federer makes a smooth entry into the second round of the US Open. Fresh from his Cincinnati triumph the Swiss continued his rich vein of form in his opening round against the Argentinian Leonardo Mayer. The Swiss managed a straight-sets victory over Mayer and defeated him 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.

Federer was on the top of his game firing down 11 aces and was powerful with his ground strokes. The Swiss maintained a decent first serve percentage of 65 and won a majority of his first serve points. Federer wasn’t highly impressive at the net, but he managed to win 15 of his 24 points. On the other hard Mayer struggled with his serving and couldn’t manage to win many of his first serve points.

The 34-year-old was mighty impressive with his break point conversion has he converted 6 of his 9 break points while the Argentinian hardly had any chance to break the Swiss serve.
