The transfer window is finally shut and the teams who wanted to keep their star players can breathe a sigh of relief. Managers who wanted to add to their squad should now try and get the best out of the players they have. In this article, we will take a look at the transfer activity of the London-based franchise Chelsea Football Club.

After lifting the Barclays Premier League trophy last season, Chelsea made some good business in the transfer market this season. They were strong in every department last season but needed to add to their squad as the top teams in the country strengthened their team in the market. However, they let go a lot of players as well and Mourinho will want his squad to repeat last season’s performances.

The biggest purchase for Chelsea has been the Barcelona star Pedro. After winning the treble last season, Pedro was scouted by Manchester United for a large part of the window but Chelsea managed to snatch him with their first bid. He has already shown great promise in his first two matches with a goal and an assist and seems to have accustomed well to the Premier League.

United flop Radaemel Falcao is another player that will make the fans excited as he signed for Chelsea on a year-long loan from Monaco. Asmir Begovic from Stoke was purchased as a replacement to Petr Cech who left the club to join Arsenal another top four contenders. Baba Rahman is the defender that Mourinho thinks will make his side even more solid in defense after their attempt to sign John Stones from Everton fell through.

On the deadline day, Papy Djilobodji was purchased from FC Nantes and will add a bit of depth to the squad. However, the team has lost the services of the club legend Didier Drogba who has moved to Montreal. Filipe Luiz heads back to Atletico Madrid after just a year at the Bridge. Juan Cuadrado and Mohamed Salah also left the club after failing to get enough chances to play for the English Champions.

Victor Moses is another player who left the club on the deadline day to join West Ham on a loan. Though the fans will be happy with the signings, the start the club has had to the Premier League where they have been able to accumulate only 4 points from 4 games losing two games already will ring bells in their hearts.

They will need all their players to be at their best for the rest of the season if Chelsea Football Club has any chance at lifting silverware this season. Mourinho has not been pro-active in the market and if the Club fails in their quest this season, the transfer policy may well come under scrutiny.
