It has been just over a year since he became the ODI captain but Virat Kohli has already achieved some incredible feats in the world cricket.

On Wednesday (February 7), the India skipper added yet another feather to his already impressive cap. Kohli did what no other captain could do in the last 25 years.

As a result of the win in the third ODI over South Africa, Kohli became the first Indian captain to lead the team to three ODI wins in a row in a bilateral series against the hosts.

In 2011, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had led the team to two consecutive wins. The Dhoni-led side had won by one run in Johannesburg and followed that with two-wicket victory in Cape Town.

Moreover, the win in third game also helped Kohli to become the first Indian captain to string together four wins in a row, across formats in South Africa. Prior to the ODI series, India had defeated South Africa in the third and last Test.

Virat Kohli’s India takes 3-0 lead:

Coming to the match, India defeated South Africa by 124 runs to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the six-match series. Sent in to bat first, India posted a mammoth 303 for 6 in the allotted 50 overs. Kohli once again starred with the bat, playing an unbeaten knock of 160. Shikhar Dhawan also played a crucial knock of 76.

India inches closer to series win:

Another win will give India their maiden bilateral series win in South Africa. The Men in Blue have never won a Test or ODI series against the Proteas in their own backyard. Moreover, a series win with the margin of 4-2 or better will also help India reclaim the number one rank in ODIs.

In the past, India had lost 5-2 in 1992-93, 4-0 in 2006-07, 3-2 in 2010-11, and 2-0 in 2013-14.
