Liverpool carried on their poor form of the season as they needed to go to penalty shootouts to see off League Two side Carlisle United. After 90 minutes, the score was 1-1 and another 30 minutes extra time could not also separate the two teams. Debutant Adam Bogdan became the hero for the Reds stopping three of the five Carlisle penalties to get past him.
Brendan Rodgers might be ‘delighted’ with the win, but the fans are thinking otherwise. They could not defeat the minnows from League two who holds the worst defensive record this season in League two. They reacted on Twitter after the embarrassing win. The conclusion is “Rodgers Out” as the fans have seen enough of their team’s poor displays.
Here are some tweets:
Tonight HAS to signal the end of Rodgers. Regardless of whether we go through or not. #LFC

Yes this is a terrible result Yes Brendan is having a poor run but how is it his fault that the players can only convert one of 40+ chances

Feel pity for him. I really do. He’s just not getting this. Trying his best and all, but… yeah. He’s just not the guy. Slow death, man.

Winning Manager of the Year was the worst thing that ever happened to Rodgers. It made him think he can walk on water. He can’t. #LFC.

People accuse #LFC fans of living in the past but I remember those heady days when we scored twice in the same game.

@Jay_78_ You’ve got to credit Carlisle. They’re a top top team and they came with a plan.

@Jay_78_ it’s worrying now Jay that EVERYONE is saying we’ve gone backwards. It can’t continue, only one outcome now.

@Jay_78_ Group were outstanding in their work. Just needed a wee bit of luck. It’s a step in the right direction.

A new manager to these players would be like an adrenaline shot.
— Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) September 23, 2015
Celebrating that? They should hang their heads in shame. Rodgers should be sacked tonight. Embarrassing.

Well we got through, so that’s good. Question is will Rodgers cling to his job long enough to face Bournemouth?

Relieved we won but this is a sad moment for the club Boos ringing round Anfield We look rudderless It’s a real low point for the club
— Jeff Goulding (@ShanklysBoys1) September 23, 2015
Other than Danny Ings, this @LFC team is devoid of anyone who wants to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Horribly anaemic.

AET #LFC 1-1 #CUFC: After 120 minutes we’re heading to penalties. Liverpool with 47 shots but only one was converted. pic.twitter.com/vjiaErdY4T

Struggling to think of the last time I was so underwhelmed by a victory. Have nothing good to say, so that’s me over and out.

One goal in 120 minutes of football at home to the team who have conceded the most goals in League Two.
