Karnataka defeats Bangladesh A side by four wickets in a one-off unofficial Test match. The multi-day Test match between these two sides took place at SDNRW ground in Mysore.
Bangladesh A side after winning the toss batted first and failed to respond to the Karnataka bowling attack. The batting order of Bangladesh A side collapsed miserably with Liton Das and Shuvagata Hom being the only saviours as they both brought up their half centuries. The visitors were rolled out for just 158 in just 38.4 overs. Prasidh was the stand out bowler for Karnataka claiming 5 wickets for 49 runs in his 12 overs.
Karnataka side during their response didn’t manage to take a huge lead but was good enough to take a considerable lead. Shishir Bhavane played a crucial knock of 88 but missed out on a well-deserved century. Sujith and Udit Patel made valuable contributions which took the Karnataka side to a modest total of 287.
Bangladesh A side in their second innings showed much better character and discipline. After a poor show in the first innings, Anamul Haque scored a solid 89. Shuvagata Hom once again starred for the Bangladesh side in the second innings scoring a half century. Soumya Sarkar and Nasir Hossain got out in the forties failing to make it big. Suchith was the stand out bowler for Karnataka in the second innings picking up six wickets for 60 runs in 12 overs. Although, Bangladesh A side managed to go past 300 the target was pretty much easier to chase for the Karnataka side as they needed to chase a target of 185.
Chasing the target Karnataka side was off to a shaky start losing the top 3 batsmen early with Samarth and Robin Uthappa getting out for single digit scores. However, CM Gautham, Abhishek Reddy and Shreyas Gopal steadied the ship for Karnataka side and chased the target with 4 wickets left in the tank.
