FC Barcelona star Neymar has revealed that he had held transfer talks with Manchester United during the summer transfer window.
Earlier this summer the Brazilian sensation was closely linked with a move to Manchester United, as the Red Devils wanted a big name in their squad in this transfer market and accordingly were planning to land the Brazilian at Old Trafford before September 1 the day transfer window closes. But as things were going at Barcelona they were never going to sell their prized possession.
Speaking to Espn Brasil recently, Neymar said: “We had conversations, but there was nothing concrete. I heard that there were offers, but none made it to me.”
Neymar had claimed last month that he was happy at the Spanish club. He assured the Barcelona fans telling that he would not leave the club anytime soon.
He was quoted: “Barca fans have nothing to worry about. When I hear things like this, I don’t think anything. I just heard it and I am calm.
“I am very happy at Barca and with my colleagues. We can have a great season. I don’t know if we can make as many goals but we are going to try to. We want titles for our team.”
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique ridiculed the rumours completely when he was asked about the transfer speculation. Luis Enrique said: “I heard Neymar and another club and I am no longer interested in this question. I don’t talk about rumours and this kind of thing. I am just focused on analysing my team. In perfect English. You got it?
Neymar had joined Barcelona in 2013. After an average debut season at the club, Neymar tasted success in the succeeding season. The attacker won the treble with the Spanish giants and had also scored the decisive goal at the UEFA Champions League final against Juventus FC.
He was also the third highest goal scorer in La Liga just after Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar’s Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi. He is one of the key forces of the Barcelona squad.
His existing contract runs out in 2018. So until then it is highly unlikely that the Brazilian would move out of the club.
