One would find it very hard to predict what is exactly going wrong with Chelsea and Jose Mourinho at the moment. Against Newcastle, we saw a pedestrian Chelsea side looking short on options and virtually clueless at times as the game ended 2-2 after Willian and Ramires were sent to rescue the situation and they did.

With Diego Costa suspended, yes they missed an attacking threat but then the players like Eden Hazard, Pedro, Oscar and Cesc Fabregas needed to take the chance and influence the game. Instead, none of the mentioned names had a game to savor.

Mourinho pulled off a rabbit out of the hat, rather two when he made two telling substitutions which ended up giving him a point. For Newcastle, it must have been a body blow as the side in shambles at the moment managed to pull off a remarkable performance to send the reigning Champions 2-0 down after both goals were craftily created and smartly finished.

Chelsea had the chance to cut down the gap at top with Manchester City dropping points against Spurs, instead a draw has now left Chelsea in 15th position and 8 points behind the league leaders. Be it Costa’s suspension or sloppy play form of the Chelsea players, Blues need to pick up their play and that too quick if they want to put their season back on track.
