Indian Basketball team defeated Hong Kong 76-71 in their second match of the second round at Changsha Social Work College’s Gymnasium, Changsha– Hunan an hour ago this morning.

The Hong Kong team was aggressive in the first quarter and led 19-14 at the end of it. The second quarter saw an equal fight each tem earning 20 points. In the third quarter, India played a bit better and earned 19 points as against 17 of the opponents. In the last quarter Indian team played with vigor and fetched 23 points as against 15 of the Hong Kong team taking an overall lead of just 5 points to win the game. The top scorer for Hong Kong was Chun Wai Wong with 21 points and 10 rebounds and 2 steals Amjyot for India with 26 points 12 rebounds, 4assists and 3 blocks with a total efficiency of 32 points.  Bhriguvanshi scoring 6 points of assist and 4 steals and S Chan with 3 assists supported Indian and Hong Kong team respectively. Amjyot Singh of India leads now the individual point table earning 127 points from 5 matches.

The competition among 16 countries teams spread over 7 days has entered the second stage.The first round of the tournament was played in a round-robin format, with the sixteen (16) teams divided into four (4) groups of four (4) teams a, B, C, and D. Every team took on its three (3) opponents in its respective group. The top three (3) teams from each group advanced to the second phase. Others will play Classification Games 13-16. In the second round, the twelve (12) remaining teams will be divided into two (2) groups of six (6) each E &F. Each team will play against the three (3) new teams in its group.

India has now played Palestine and Hong Kong and won both matches. The top four (4) teams from each group advance to the Quarter-Finals. The tournament will be played in a knockout format from the Quarter-Finals onwards. Others play Classification Games 9-12.
