Chelsea are travelling all the way to Portugal tonight to face FC Porto is the group stage game of UEFA Champions League and ahead of the clash, the best player of the opponents has been linked with a move to Chelsea.
According to Metro, Chelsea will be looking to sign Porto’s Algerian winger Yacine Brahimi in January and it could be an opportunity for the 25-year-old to catch the eye of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
The Algerian star has a buy-out clause in his contract worth of reported £44 million which seems to be a huge investment for the club.
The Blues are already believed to be looking for reinforcements after a below-par start to the season which has seen them take just eight points from their opening seven games.
Mourinho has a huge task in his hand if he wants to retain the title once again and his team has to start performing once again. They are eight points behind league leaders Manchester United and the chance of another title challenge is still possible.
Brahimi is a technically gifted player with bags of pace in his game and has good vision and a good eye for goal.
Brahimi is an Algerian international with 23 caps to his name and has scored 4 goals.
He joined Porto from La Liga side, Granada last season and featured in 49 games for the Portuguese giants scoring 13 times and assisting 11.
Brahimi is a former France youth international having represented the country at all youth levels. In 2009, he played on the under-19 team that reached the semi-finals at the 2009 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship. In February 2013, Brahimi switched his international allegiance to Algeria and made his debut for them a month later, also playing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
He scored his first hat-trick for the club in Porto’s first match of the Champions League group stage, a 6–0 home win over BATE Borisov on 17 September. 2015.
He was also awarded BBC African Footballer pf the Year in 2014.
But the news is surprising that too on the matchday and it is also thought that it might be a trick to have the best player of Porto in an off game.
