Former South African batting star and national coaches of India and South Africa, Gary Kirsten has announced that Fairtree Capital is all set to become the new partner and headline sponsor of the Gary Kirsten Cricket at an event last week. The former Proteas opener has represented the national team in 101 Tests and 185 One Day International before becoming the coach of the South African national team and India.
He is the current coach of Hobart Hurricanes in the Australian Big Bash League and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. The southpaw is committed to the creation of sporting ecosystems and healthy alternative communities in the township. They aim at providing a quality infrastructure which is safe and secure and accessible to people in the towns.

“I had a vision to develop an internationally recognised cricket academy that would be based at a state-of-the-art facility. This vision became a reality when the academy was launched, providing high-performance cricket coaching that not only caters for South African cricketers, but also for cricketers from around the world,” said Kirsten.
Kirsten couldn’t realise his dream of lifting a World Cup as a player. However, he got his due when the Men in Blue lifted the coveted title under his coaching. He was an inspirational figure in the team and had a great bonding with most of the players in the team. He forged a formidable partnership with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the then skipper of India. Following India’s victory, he was carried on the shoulder by the players as the celebrations went on for days.
