The ‘Special One’ as tagged by the fans, Jose Mourinho has rarely seen this end of the coin. He has always been successful in his managerial career and was never thrown out by a team in the middle of a season. However, the dismal start, that never seems to get better for Chelsea has seen Mourinho’s job slide into trouble just as the Kop sacked their manager.

Mourinho had a successful last season with a brace. He won the Premier League in style and also the Capital One cup giving his club supporters plenty to cheer. But this season, the Premier League already looks out of reach with just 8 games into the season. They have collected just 8 points from these games and have already lost 4 games in this time.

Chelsea’s European campaign started well, but their last game against Porto was a reality check. They were nowhere close to where they wanted to be and are facing a tough task to get back into qualification.

Mourinho’s sides are usually built on a strong defensive platform but for some strange reason, the Chelsea back four has looked less than mediocre. They lack any kind of zeal to win and have not shown enough effort on the field to suggest that they are taking the games seriously. This is a serious issue that the manager has to set right if he wants to be in charge of the club till the end of the season.

Up-front as well, Hazard has not been his at his dazzling best and has too often looked lethargic. The likes of Costa and Oscar have not been able to provide enough in the attack that is making it hard for the club to out-score opponents. Costa was replaced by Falcao who was nothing but a spectator in the last game.

The squad has a lot of depths and the summer signings provide a lot of options and the manager has been reluctant to change things around. But whenever he has, it has only backfired and the club have not been able to stitch positive results together.

All of this has added up to magnify the loopholes in the team and Chelsea at the moment are suffering. The players know better than anyone else that their performances are well below par. But if these performances continue over a period of 2 months, there is something seriously wrong with the club. The manager should take the blame for it and should be held responsible.

Mourinho has already stated in a press conference that he is the best manager for the club so far in his history it is not far from the truth. The Chelsea football club has seen some great moment with this man at its helm and the owners will be wary of losing a manager like him. But if the results don’t show up sooner, Mourinho may just face a situation he may not even have dreamt of.

Leave your opinion on whether the Portugal master-mind should leave Chelsea or if the Owners should stick with him this season.
