Just like the majority, Harbhajan Singh also feels that that punishment dished out to Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft by Cricket Australia in the wake of the ball tampering scandal is way too much.
The disgraced trio is paying a hefty price for their role in the scandal that took place in the Cape Town Test. On the third day of the game, Bancroft was captured using yellow tape to scruff up the ball. Once the broadcasters repeatedly aired the footage and even displayed it on the giant screen, Bancroft was seen slipping the yellow tape inside his trousers.

Bancroft and Smith then later revealed that the team had planned to change the ball’s condition. The ICC then banned Smith for one game and handed Bancroft three demerit points.
Cricket Australia then went a step further and handed lengthy bans to the disgraced trio. Both Steve Smith and David Warner were handed 12-month ban. On the other hand, Bancroft is banned for nine months.

But while the incident drew widespread criticism, many feel that Cricket Australia’s treatment was harsh. And Harbhajan Singh also holds the same views. The veteran spinner took to Twitter to insist that the lengthy ban is a joke.
“A year ban for ball tempering ?? That’s a joke. What kind of crime they have done ?Taking the game away from someone for a year is absolute nonsense.understand if ban was for 1 test series or 2 but this is ridiculous.hope @CricketAus reduce th ban @stevesmith49 @davidwarner31”
