Wednesday saw the reunion of two of cricket’s greatest batsmen – Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. Both the players enjoyed a stellar track record as openers, amassing a record 8227 runs in 176 ODIs.
The occasion that brought the former India stars together was the book launch ceremony of Sourav Ganguly’s autobiography ‘A Century is not Enough’. Current India opener Rohit Sharma also shared the stage with his illustrious predecessors.

Sachin and Ganguly began the show by sharing some fond memories of their glittering careers. The discussion ranged from Ganguly’s century in his maiden Test at Lord’s to India’s stunning run in 2003 World Cup.
The legendary duo then lavished praise on Rohit. And Ganguly even backed Rohit to become the first player to score a double ton in T20s.
“Sachin scored first hundred in ODI and taking inspiration from him, Rohit has gone on to score three double centuries in ODIs. The day is not far when we will see him scoring the first double century in T20s too,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly also spoke about his infamous feud with former coach Greg Chappell and stated how the episode made him tougher.
“A big part of success in cricket, in any sport is how you handle your failures and tough situations. What happened during those days in Indian cricket was unfortunate but after losing my place in the team, I worked really hard to make a comeback. And when I finally made a comeback, I was much stronger mentally. I batted well in the last four years of my career and in fact Sachin always says that those four years were the best period of my life as a batsman,” the 46-year-old said.
