Chennai Super Kings marked their return to their home ground with yet another thrilling win.They had defeated Mumbai Indians in their comeback game and continued the winning run against Kolkata Knight Riders too. Playing their first game after two years, Super Kings beat the Knight Riders by 5 wickets.
Sent in to bat first, the Knight Riders scored a mammoth 202 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Andre Russell starred with the bat, scoring 88 not out off just 36 balls including 11 sixes and a four. In reply, Chennai Super Kings chased down the total with a ball remaining. Sam Billings starred for them by scoring 55 off just 23.
With the game now done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers:
1. Andre Russell became the second player from Kolkata Knight Riders to hit ten or more sixes in an IPL inning. Brendon McCullum was the first to achieve this feat when he scored 158 in the very first game of IPL in 2008.

2. Russell’s 11 sixes are the joint-most number of sixes hit by any player in an IPL inning against Super Kings. Sanath Jayasuriya also hit 11 sixes for Mumbai Indians during in the inaugural season.
3. Dinesh Karthik has now been involved in 9 run-outs in IPL. Only Rohit Sharma (21) is ahead of the Knight Riders skipper.
4. Sam Billings 21-ball fifty is the third fastest for Super Kings in the IPL. Suresh Raina holds the record for fastest fifty for his 16-ball half-century against Kings XI Punjab in 2014. MS Dhoni is second in the list for the 20-ball fifty against Mumbai in 2012.

5. The game saw a total of 31 sixes being hit with Knight Riders hitting 17 of them and Super Kings contributing 14. These are the joint-most sixes hit in an IPL game. Same number of sixes were hit during the 2017 IPL game between Delhi Daredevils and Gujarat Lions.
6. Knight Riders scored 80 runs in their last five overs. These are the second most runs scored by the two-time IPL champions in the last five overs of an IPL inning. They scored 86 runs in the last five overs against Deccan Chargers in the first season.
7. Russell’s 88 is the highest score for any batsman while batting at No.7 in the IPL. He broke the record held by Dwayne Bravo who hit 68 in the opening game of this season against Mumbai Indians.
8. Suresh Raina has now scored 715 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. These are the most number of runs scored by any player against Knight Riders in the league.
9. MS Dhoni became the 2nd player to score 3000 runs in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings after Suresh Raina (3717).
