I've never seen Barcelona struggle so much: Dzeko 1

Roma forward Edin Dzeko, who was the goal scorer in both the legs against their historical clash against Barcelona has said that he is very happy that he turned down the Chelsea offer after his side qualified in the Champions League semi-final for the first time since 1983/84.

The Italian forward was heavily linked with English club Chelsea in the winter transfer window and in the deadline day the deal was almost about to happen according to few reports.

But in the end, the club and Dzeko decided to turn down the offer and the striker wanted to continue with the Italian club.

“It wasn’t easy, but I stayed here and am very happy to be here. I think the club is glad, too. Let’s not talk about [the move]. Money doesn’t matter,” he said.

Dzeko also said that he has never seen Barcelona struggle so much and he is proud of the fact that how his side constantly pressed them right from the word go.

“This was the best, but even better may well be yet to come. It proved we can play against anyone, as Barcelona are such a strong side. We put three goals past them and could have had more. I have never seen Barcelona struggle so much. We pressed them constantly from the first minute,” Dzeko said.

After qualifying in the semi-final, the 32-year old forward now targets nothing but to play the final of the Champions League.

“To the final, hopefully. Nobody believed in us and we have reached the semi-final for the first time in the Champions League [era]. I am very happy that I can watch the draw for the semi-finals and see my Roma there,” Dzeko concluded.
