Ace Indian Dipika Pallikal’s great run in the US Open Squash ended in the quarterfinal against the World Number 6 Omneya Abdel Kawy of Egypt in Philadelphia late night of 15th October 2015. She lost to the Egyptian 11-9, 6-11, 8-11, 11-2, 3-11

In the first set, Kawy took a 9-5 lead but only to see Pallikal win six points in a row and win a closely fought game at 11-9. Initially, they dominated in spells but Kawy took the next two games with ease. As if recovering from a shock Dipika came back with a vengeance and totally dominated the fourth to take the game of the set at 11-2. She had such a great shots in the fourth set that she just played the perfect game that appeared to be one-sided. Not surprisingly the world sixth-ranked Egyptian was back on top in the decider to thrash her back with a similar score of 11-3 to win the game and the set. Kawy made it faster and waited for opportunities to go for winners. Over all, it was a show of putting up a brave fight. Kawy secured her third 3-2 win over Pallikal to gain her second U.S. Open semifinal spot.

Earlier getting into top form after two forgettable tournaments earlier, Dipika Pallikal had notched up one of her best wins in her career when she outlasted fourth-seeded Alison Waters (England) in five games to gain entry into this quarterfinal. The Indian had won 9-11, 11-5, 3-11, 11-1, and 11-6.

Another Indian, Joshna Chinappa had little answer to the brilliance of hard-hitting Egyptian Omneya Abdel Kawy, the sixth seed.  The same Egyptian had won in three straight inside a half hour.  Attacking shots and winning drops was the feature of Kawys play and Joshna could not match up to that.  The Egyptian won 12-10, 11-6 and 11-5

Indian men including world 15th ranked Sourav Ghosal, Mahesh Manjrekar, Harinder Pal Sandhu could not reach even quarter-finals.
