In a bid to prepare for the Twenty20 World Cup in 2020, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday have decided to play a three-match Twenty20 International series instead of a proposed One-day International competition against Afghanistan.
The board of directors sat together in Mirpur and took the call while keeping the upcoming global event in mind.

It was also announced that the series will take place in Dehradun. The Tigers will play a full series against the Windies after facing the Afghan boys.
The BCB were interested in a venue that is convenient for traveling, but with most of the venues already packed, they had to settle for Dehradun.

“We have ICC T20 World Cup ahead but we are not playing enough T20I matches. So we decided to play the series against Afghanistan in T20 format,” BCB president Nazmul Hasan, said.
“We will play the series in Dehradun as other venues are preoccupied,” he added.

Bangladesh wanted to play in Kolkata/Delhi:
“We told them (BCCI) to reconsider the venue location so that it is convenient for our players,” Nazmul told reporters. “As we will tour West Indies for a full tour after the Afghanistan series It would be better for players if the venue is convenient for traveling,” he added. “Dehradun is fine but we are looking for a convenient venue and it would be better if the series can be held in Kolkata or Bangalore. Obviously, we are in talks and I am sure BCCI will help us in this matter.” he maintained.

On the other hand, Afghanistan who earned their Test status, will play their maiden Test match against India. The Test will be starting from June 14.
According to BCB, Afghanistan had earlier planned to host the Bangladesh side in UAE but since they failed to do so, the ACB opted to play in India. The Afghan side has played in India before.
BCCI had allocated the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports complex in Noida to Afghanistan for the 2015-16 season.
