According to several sources in the football transfer market including the big names of ESPN and The Daily Star, Dutchman Persie has been targeted by Spanish giants Barcelona. It was said that the Blaugranas arranged scouts to travel all the way to Turkey to see the 32-year-old Fenerbahce striker, play.

The Rotterdam-born player was a one season wonder boy at Manchester United as he failed to earn a big name at the club during his ending tenure at Old Trafford. Overpowered by other players and hit by injuries, RvP found it difficult to make his place on the score sheet. Eventually, he felt out with the boss, LVG, at the club.

About a few days ago, the news of Barcelona eyeing Persie broke out as the Spanish club is looking for a short term backup role to the MSN trio – Messi, Suarez, Neymar. Robin could do full justice to this role because of this experience. The Catalans are worried especially after Messi’s injury and are looking for a player to fill up the spot.

RvP has not really had good terms with the boss at Fenerbahce, the sources say. However, the manager was quick with his words and denied any talks of Persie leaving the club. Assuming RvP is unhappy at the Turkish club and wishes to leave, his move to Barcelona wouldn’t really benefit him as he would be one among the bench warmers. It is highly unlikely for the Dutchman to move to Barcelona, however, we would only know about the final result in the January transfer window.
