Former Australian cricketer Justin Langer has swiftly fit into his new role as the head coach of the Australian team. The 47-year-old addressed the media and shared his vision and plan to take Australia forward in the foreseeable future.

Langer will take on many challenges- 2019 World Cup, the Ashes 2020 World Twenty20 to name a few. Australia’s historic campaign in India came back in 2004. Langer rated winning a series in India will be an ultimate challenge.
“We’ve got a World Cup, a T20 World Cup, a couple of Ashes (in 2019 and 2021-22) – I get nervous when I start thinking about it,” Langer said during a presser in Melbourne.

“But ultimately, if I fast forward it, the Indian Test tour in about three or four years’ time, to me that’s the ultimate. We will judge ourselves on whether we’re a great cricket team if we beat India in India,” he said.
Langer puts his focus on overseas tours
Under stand-in skipper Adam Gilchrist’s leadership ( following Ricky Ponting’s injury), the Kangaroos sealed the Test series 2-1. Well, after fourteen years Langer as a coach has set his eyes on a similar result, three years from now.
“I look back on my career, the Mount Everest moment was 2004 when we finally beat India in India,” he remarked.
“We’ve got to get better at playing overseas, we become a great team if we win overseas and at home so that will be something for us to aspire to,” he added.

Justin Langer on the suspended trio:
The former Test opener has represented the baggy green in 105 Tests, scoring 7,696 runs at an average of 45.27.
The southpaw has 23 tons and 30 fifties to his name. In the absence of Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft, Langer said he was surprised as all three of them are good blokes and they loved the game dearly.
Former top-order batsman Langer also added that it will be a good opportunity for others to step up.
