Stats: list of top 10 Indian batsmen with most ODI hundreds
Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli surpassed Sourav Ganguly’s record of 22 One Day International centuries after scoring a match-winning 138 against South Africa at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai in the fourth ODI of the five-match ‘Freedom Series’. He scored a hundred after a gap of 13 innings. He was not in good shape since his World Cup hundred against Pakistan at Adelaide Oval.
He played a sluggish 77 in the third ODI at Rajkot that has gone in vain. But, his half century was a good sign for India’s shaky batting line up in the middle of the series against South Africa.
Now, with this century, he broke the record of one of the great Indian batsmen Sourav Ganguly. Kohli will be 27 on November 5. He played 157 innings so far. So, he has plenty of innings to offer. There is an expectation that Virat Kohli may cross Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI hundred if the Delhi boy does not lose his form.
Kohli now has 23 ODI centuries that mean he has the second most number of centuries in its kitty by an Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar. The Indian batting maestro has 49 ODI centuries in 452 innings.
So, now for Virat Kohli Sachin Tendulkar’s record is the target. Every record set to be broken. But, if Virat Kohli breaks the Sachin’s record that will be one of the fascinating things of the World cricket. However, Kohli’s form and fitness will be key to his success.
Kohli loves to score while chasing and enjoy building an innings coming at no3. Among the current top three International batsmen, Kohli is considered as the most technically equipped batsman.
