In a battle of survival, Rajasthan Royals (RR) yet again came out with flying colours. They managed to thump Mumbai Indians (MI) at their fortress to improve their chances for Playoffs. The collective team effort in the bowling department and Jos Buttler’s incredible run of form delivered a much-needed victory for Royals-led by Ajinkya Rahane.

168-169 on this wicket was 10-15 runs short: Rahane

While reflecting on the match, Rahane that it was a great win for the team and added that Archer’s double-wicket over in the game was a turning point for the team. He felt that Mumbai Indians were 10-15 runs short and revealed that they are working on stitching partnerships.

“Great win for all of us. 168-169 on this wicket was 10-15 runs short. Jofra Archer’s couple of wickets in that over changed the game actually. We didn’t get a partnership in the earlier games but we knew that if we get one early on, it’ll be easy to chase,” Rahane concluded while speaking to Sanjay Manjrekar in post-match presentation.

Despite winning the game, Rahane isn’t satisfied with the fielding department. He feels that there is a room for improvement in that particular department and wishes that the boys would manage it in their next appearance.

”The discussion before the game was to get used to the wicket as soon as possible. There’s room for improvement in the fielding department. I want the boys to stand up and do well in that,” Rahane added.

However, the win ensured Rajasthan to stay alive in the tourney and are eligible to bag those magical 16 points in their kitty.

From now onwards, it will be their playoff berth to lose on, especially, after showing their promise in the back-to-back games.

Coming to the next fixtures, they will be taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 15th and 19th of May respectively.

The winner of KKR vs Royals will virtually confirm the playoff berth but the game of cricket will always be ready with a bag full of twists.
