Liverpool are travelling to Stamford Bridge tomorrow to face struggling Chelsea in the headliner game of the week.
Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp’s press conference has taken place.
The German manager found his first win as Liverpool manager during midweek against Bournemouth in League Cup round of 16.
Here are quotes from Klopp’s pre-match presser:
“Injury situation better than yesterday. Christian (Benteke) trained & is preparing for tomorrow.”
He also confirmed that Sturidge will miss out against his former club.
He said, “The kind of injuries we’ve suffered has nothing to do with the medical department here.”
“I’m not close enough to Chelsea to know the reasons (for their form). We have to respect the quality of Chelsea.”
“It’s a big match but I’ve been doing this job for 15 years and I’ve had some big matches before. I am full of motivation to win.”
“It’s 9th against 15th. We have the chance to improve our situation. We have to look at how they play, how we can close spaces.”
Klopp showed his admiration towards his Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho.
He said, “When I was in Germany Mourinho and I sometimes sent messages. I have respect for his work. He’s a nice guy.”
“I couldn’t be more far away from being frustrated (at schedule meaning little time on training field). 2 weeks here, 5 games!”
“Part of my job is to watch the players out on loan. There will be a time when we have to make a decision about them.”
“I don’t know anything about his (Mourinho’s methods), the relationships there. I don’t know enough. It’s always speculation.”
“You think Tottenham was easy? Southampton was not easy! Do Chelsea players still know how to play football? Of course they do.”
“Ramires, Matic are great players. Cahill and Terry from set-plays are big guys. I’m not sure it’s easier now to play v Chelsea.”
“It will be my first time there at the stadium. I’m looking forward to it.”
