Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag together established one of the most fearful opening partners in the history of the world cricket.
From scoring quick runs to making big partnerships and helping India to historic wins the pair did all in a remarkable fashion.
Meanwhile, the pair was one of the toughest nuts to crack for the bowlers of that generation.
However, a great bonhomie off the field helped the batsmen on the pitch to make it big. Sachin, meanwhile, had few doubts about batting with Sehwag as he didn’t “talk too much” to him in his early days of an int.
Sachin has now revealed how he reduced an unfamiliarity with young Sehwag, on the show ‘What the Duck 3.’

“I remember when Viru first joined the team, he would not talk to me. Then I thought this can’t work, we need to talk to each other and if we are batting together I need to make him comfortable. So I told him let’s go get have some food. Before going, I asked him what he liked. He said ‘Paaji, I am a vegetarian’. When I asked why he revealed that he had been told at home that eating chicken makes you fat,” Sachin said.
The master blaster Tendulkar then broke the myth that eating chicken doesn’t make one fat.
“Do I look fat to you? I have been eating chicken all these years. I said, ‘Come, we’ll try chicken and then slowly’. Now, Viru eats chicken,” he added.

Sehwag recalls first meeting with Sachin
Sehwag, who idolised Sachin as a young cricketer, also recalled the moment when he first met the living legend while donning the national jersey.
“When I first met him, he just shook my hand and moved on. I thought to myself that I idolise this person and he just shook my hand and walked away. But later when I was a senior and met new players, I did the same, then I realised you cannot get close to a person before knowing him. I was very shy when I first joined the team,” Sehwag said.
Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar and Sehwag hold the record for being the fourth best opening pair in ODI cricket.
Both scored 3,919 runs in 93 One-day International innings at an average of 42.13. The duo registered 12-century and 18 half-century stands respectively.
