Sachin Tendulkar assured Sourav Ganguly the opening batting slot

Sachin Tendulkar, the co-organiser of the ALL Stars T20 league in the USA, assured Sourav Ganguly that the former left-handed batsman should open the innings as the tournament start on November 7.

Sachin’s tweet came after Ganguly casually said a Bengali channel TV crew, “I have told Sachin, if I don’t open, I will catch the next flight to Kolkata. So that is a criteria for playing.”

The Indian batting maestro tweeted, “Dada your application for the opener’s position is being processed!Hope the off drive is coming from the sweet spot.”

Sachin probably watched the news today morning. So, he tweeted in a rather professional way to assure Ganguly’s post in the tournament, which has organised keeping nostalgia of the cricket fans in mind regarding their former cricket heroes.

Sachin and Australian spin legend Shane Warned planned about the tournament while they were playing an exhibition match at the Lord’s.

However, Ganguly has started his preparation for the legends’ tournament at the Eden Gardens. The left-handed batsman spent  30 minutes on Tuesday morning so that he can be ready to take on Warne’s Warriors in the first match in New York City on November 7.

Ganguly, who padded up his legs after three years was seen stepping out to the spinners. He was also played some classic cover drive off local boys. But when he was asked did he enjoy the practise session, Ganguly, “It is not possible. I was picking the ball late. But it was fun.”

Ganguly recently has become the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president after Jagmohan Dalmiya has died. The southpaw said the matches will be competitive, as “no one wants to get out, and the bowlers also don’t want to get spanked. So it will be a good contest.”
