Fairy tales sometimes do have a bucket of surprises to be unleashed. Anfield bid a passionate, tearful adieu to the Kop legend, the comic book hero in the age of the internet, Steven Gerrard. Now, Jurgen Klopp wants him back at Liverpool. The most reliable guy for news related to Liverpool, Jay Riley says, “Jurgen Klopp wants the return of Steven Gerrard at LFC.”

Very reliable Simon Hughes has written in independent that Jurgen Klopp has held talks with Steven Gerrard over returning to Liverpool, Klopp has held several intense talks over the Telephone with Stevie Gerard, though it is most likely that Gerrard would be training with the squad, rather than playing. Klopp believes his presence would set the standard. Let”s take a look at what Simon Hughes has written ” Via Independent (Simon Hughes):

“Steven Gerrard set for an amazing return to Liverpool. In comeback talks with Klopp – maybe even in a playing role.

Klopp has spoken to Gerrard several times on the phone since becoming the Anfield boss.

Klopp is now convinced that Gerrard’s presence will help define the standards of professionalism he expects around Melwood.

Although Klopp has so far only debated the possibility of Gerrard training with Liverpool until Jan 15th when he’s due back to the US, there is a chance of a formal playing agreement being struck. However, La Galaxy would probably demand a fee.

La Galaxy are currently not willing to sanction a loan deal.

Gerrard is expected to attend Liverpool’s home match with Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Gerrard should meet Klopp in person for the first time early next week when the pair will try and plot the way forward.

Gerrard, 35, will take advice from friends, family and trusted colleagues within football before deciding whether it is appropriate to get involved at Liverpool again, even if it is just for training.

Jurgen Klopp has treated Steven Gerrard better in 3 weeks than what Brendan Rodgers had in 3 years, probably that’s the case.”

Very reliable David Maddock also saying the same thing but says MLS bosses want to avoid a David Beckham-esque situation and will block any sensational Liverpool return. He has written, “While Jurgen Klopp and Gerrard have had conversations about him training during the MLS off- season, talks he’s set for a playing return are wide of the mark.”

“American soccer bosses will block any attempt by Steven Gerrard to return to Anfield in a playing capacity.”

“The Liverpool legend has spoken with new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp several times in recent weeks – but ONLY about training with his former club in the MLS off- season, an offer made to him before he left Anfield. Gerrard is due back on Merseyside tomorrow, and will be in England until January 15 when he returns to LA Galaxy for the start of pre-season training. But there have been NO talks about actually playing for Liverpool again, even though Klopp is keen to get the veteran midfielder back in to train with his squad.”

“The German believes the former Reds skipper can help set the tone for training, and set standards which the rest of the team can follow – just as he did in his last few seasons at Anfield”

But Gerrard’s contract is with the MLS, and they have made it patently clear there will be NO loan deals for their big money players who are paid to promote the U.S. soccer league – which rules out a return to English football for the former England captain and his international teammate Frank Lampard. MLS commissioner Dan Garber – who brokered the deal to take the Liverpool icon to the States – spoke only last week on the subject, when he insisted the player’s contract rules out any such move.” MLS boss has said, “I don’t think so and I had not heard that was something that was being contemplated.’It doesn’t happen as much as it used to.”

Now,the current situation stands like Klopp wants Stevie back, but if Liverpool are to get him back as a player, they will have to pay a fee to LA Galaxy. Hope the Reds don’t let Steven walk alone in his last year of playing professional football.
