With the World Cup in Russia in full swing, the whole of world is gripped by the football fever. With the best players and the best teams in fighting it out for the ultimate prize in the game, it is not at all surprising that the fans across the globe are desperate to remain updated with every action going on in Russia.
Well, a particular guy was one of those millions of fans. But because of his work commitments, he was missing out on the World Cup action and asked his girlfriend, Alison Finlay, to provide him with updates of England’s opening World Cup encounter with Tunisia. And it is safe to say that what followed was totally unexpected.
Her boyfriend had to work late during the game and it meant that while the match went on, he had to travel on the London Underground. Desperate to remain updated with the game, he pinned his hopes on his girlfriend. Like a good girlfriend, Alison took the onus on herself to keep her boyfriend updated. Little did she know that commentary was not that easy.
Alison wrote her boyfriend these unique updates, before she posted the messages on social media.
Not surprisingly, the end result went viral.
“The player with the yellow card looks sheepish,” read one of her texts.
Another read:
“We’re 34 minutes in and everyone’s hair is still holding up well.”
Other updates included:
“A Tunisian man is on the floor. Looks like he got hit in the hair. The referee is uninterested. The man with the injured hair is not pleased.”
My boyfriend asked me to text him updates from the #ENGTUN game as he's on his way home. You can't say it's not accurate. #WorldCup pic.twitter.com/fOIUKsMLus

Coming to the game, a brace from Harry Kane including a stoppage-time winner helped the Three Lions edge out Tunisia 2-1.
