Real Madrid are set to accept a €100 million offer from Juventus for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to a report by Spanish TV show “Jugones.”

According to reports, the transfer is set to be finalized.

The show, broadcast on Spanish station La Sexta that Ronaldo will be allowed to leave this transfer window after nine years at the Santiago Bernabeu. Earlier this summer, Ronaldo threw his future into doubt by talking about Real Madrid in the past tense after beating Liverpool in the UCL final.

And reports linking Ronaldo to Juventus have intensified this week. Marca reported on its front page on Tuesday that transfer negotiations with Juventus had begun. And, a deal would go through barring a last-minute turn. Portuguese newspaper A Bola also led with a report that talks are underway.

The reported club-record offer from Juventus is expected to make Ronaldo the highest-paid player in their history. This could then free up funds for Real Madrid to pursue long-term target Neymar. Juve are prepared to pay the 33-year-old €30m-a-year on a contract through to 2022.

Ronaldo has had several rocky offseasons and has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid all the time.  He’s won everything there is to win at the club, and maybe he wants another challenge.

After winning the last UCL against Liverpool he said:
“It was very nice to be at Real Madrid … In the coming days I will give a response to the fans, who have always been at my side.”

It remains to be seen if there was a deeper fallout between the star player and the club directory over the last month. But in all seriousness, perhaps he’s seeking a change of scenery after accomplishing everything possible at Real Madrid.

Only time can tell now if these reports could turn out to be true or quite the opposite.
