Twitter reactions: Warne’s Warriors defeats Sachin’s Blasters by 6 wickets at Citi Field, New York
Yes, cricket has happened in America. And it is super hit. 40,000 strong crowd filled the Citi Filed stadium to witness a historic moment in the history of cricket in the USA. Warne’s Warrior have won the first match of the three-match Twenty 20 series by 6 wickets.
In reply to Sachin’s Blasters, Warriors chased down the target in 17.2 overs. Rickey Ponting and recently retired Kumar Sangakkara built a 75 run partnership that made all the difference in the match. Ponting was unbeaten at 48 while Sangakkara scored 41.
Sachin’s blasters had got a good start from Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar. Sehwag has completed his fifty in 20 balls.
But, Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds produced superb bowling spells to restrict Sachin’s Blasters in 141 after Virender Sehwag’s onslaught was stopped by Daniel Vettori.
Sachin’s Blasters lost the match because they don’t have good bowlers to bowl in the middle overs. Legends like Curtly Ambrose and Muttiah Muralitharan lost their sharpness.
Among the many things that were fascinating, Shoaib Akhtar’s pace and bounce, Wasim Akram’s death over bowling, Virender Sehwag explosive batting has given plenty of exciting moments to the Citi Field crowd.
But, among all blokes, Shoaib Akhtar was the man of the evening. Twitter fantasised most on him. Some went back to Akhtar’s old days while others were charmed by Sachin and Shoaib’s on field conference.
Here is how twitter reacted to the first ever most watched T20 match in the USA.
