MS Dhoni completed his 10,000 ODI runs and became the fourth Indian and 12th overall to achieve the feat.

MS Dhoni, on Saturday (July 14), added another feather to his already illustrious cap, as he became fourth Indian and 12th overall in ODI history to score 10,000 runs.

The 37-year old achieved the milestone during second ODI against England at Lord’s. Ahead of the first ODI of the three-match series at Trent Bridge, Dhoni needed just 33 runs to enter the elite list.

However, he didn’t get to bat, as India made light work of the chase. He reached the milestone at Lord’s when he scored 33 runs off 47 balls.

MS Dhoni became the fourth Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid to achieve the remarkable feat. Overall, he is the twelfth player to accomplish the feat.

The former India skipper is also the 5th quickest to reach the milestone, taking 273 innings. He is the 2nd wicketkeeper to score 10,000 ODI runs after Kumar Sangakkara.

Dhoni needed 11,321 deliveries to complete 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. He is the quickest concerning balls to reach the milestone after Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya (11296).

As far as age is concerned, he is at number three (37 yrs and seven days) after Tillakaratne Dilshan (38yrs and 285 days), Brian Lara (37 yrs 228 days).

Dhoni, however, could not make the day special for him. He could score only 37 off 59 balls, as India lost the second ODI by 86 runs. Chasing 323, the Men in Blue were all out for just 236.
