On Tuesday, India jumped to the top of medal standings at the 13th Asian Shooting Championship with six more medals to their kitty on Day 6 of competitions.

India went ahead of China with a total of 12 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze for a total haul of 28 medals with three days left. China has 11 gold,8 Silver and 9 bronze medals.

In men’s 25 m standard pistol event, Mahendra Singh won the silver shooting a total of 572. Korean Dae Kyu Jang won the gold medal with 581. Mahendra teamed with Gurpeet Singh and Neeraj Kumar won the bronze medal in the team event.

In women’s 50 m rifle 3 positions event, Lajja Goswami qualified for 8 women final but ended seventh shooting 404.6 in the finals.

Goswami, Anjum Moudgil and Susan Koshy shot a total of 1734 to bag the team event bronze. China won the gold with a total score of 1749 while Korea won the silver shooting a combined score of 1737. Heena Sindhu had won a gold medal while Jitu Rai has also won a silver medal in this competiton.

It has been an excellent tournament so far for the Indian shooting team and hope to continue their form in the remaining 3 days.
