Blasters v Warriors: Glenn McGrath and Matthew Hayden revive their rivalry, Sangakkara put on a masterclass
The Minute Maid Park has seen a storm. The storm- Kumar Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis- blew away Sachin’s Blasters bowlers. Warne’s Warriors have posted a formidable 262 for 5 on board in 20 overs. Now Sachin’s Blasters have to chase the mountainous target 263 to won the match and to restore the parity of the three-match series.
The second T20 of the of the All-Star cricket league has started in Houston. The captain Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and chose to field first.
It is morning in India, but the Minute Maid Park, Houston are in Diwali night mood. The spontaneous crowd filled the stadium, enjoying the game.
Warne Warriors’ opening duo Matthew Hayden and Michael Vaughan scored 51 in 6 overs. Graeme Swann gave Blasters the first breakthrough as the offie trapped his former England captain Micheal Vaughan lbw.
Matthew Hayden, who was hammering his former teammate Glenn McGrath, was bowled in the next delivery after hitting a big six.
Kumar Sangakkara and Jacques Kallis played hurricane innings and helped Warriors to post 100 runs in 10 overs. Kallis has scored 45 off 23 balls. Kumar Sangakkara scored 70 runs off 29 balls. He hits six sixes and 6 boundaries. His gusty innings was ended by Lance Klusener as Shoaib Akhtar took a nice catch.
The Ponting-Sangakkara partnership worked well in this match as well. Their partnership produced a 74 runs partnership. In the last match their 80 run partnership ensured Warriors a 6 wicket victory.
Jonty Rhodes and Andrew Symonds played some lusty shots in death overs. Symonds has scored 6 balls 19 while Rhodes has scored 18 off 8 balls.
Meanwhile, both teams have made three changes today. Carl Hooper, Curtley Ambrose and Moin Khan were replaced with Sourav Ganguly, Graeme Swann and Glenn McGrath in Sachi’s team while Warne rested Allan Donald, Courtney Walsh, and Daniel Vettori and picked up Saqlain Mushtaq, Ajit Agarkar and Michael Vaughan.
