Pakistani off-spinner Saeed Ajmal’s contract has been suspended py Pakistan Cricket Board over derogatory comments made by him regarding the use of illegal action by bowlers and the inept way it is dealt with. The 38 year old offie had been Pakistan’s matchwinner until he was sidelined in 2014 over illegal action, an allegation that he was cleared of in February this year, since which he has not made a single appearance in international cricket.

Ajmal had targeted the ICC accusing them of targeting only off spinners and leaving the leggies, the left armers and fast bowlers aside. He added insult to injury when he singled out Harbhajan Singh as a serial chucker who has eluded punishment to great extents even though he often violated the 15 degree arm bending rule.

PCB issued a statement feeling apologetic about his comments and suspending his contract, citing minimum punishment that could have been imposed over such gross violation of code of conduct. His salaries have been revoked and he has been removed of the contract list, of which he was in the B-level, even though he was out of action till April.

Pakistan Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan also stated that he had invited Saqlain Mushtaq and taken immediate steps to ensure his action is corrected. Saaed Ajmal has represented Pakistan in all formats of the game scaling 174 test, 185 ODI, and 85 T20 international wickets, before he was detected of irregularities in his bowling style.
