Thibaut Courtois, the new signing of Real Madrid is delighted after joining the best club in the world, and he wants to keep bringing trophies at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid had signed Thibaut Courtois on a six-year deal from Chelsea.
After spending seven years at the Stamford Bridge, Courtois had joined Real Madrid on a six-year deal. Also, Mateo Kovacic had joined Chelsea on a season-long loan.
In the past, the goalkeeper had been on-loan at Real Madrid rivals, Atletico Madrid in the past.
However, Thibaut Courtois had won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge. After joining the Los Blancos, Courtois said in the press conference,
“I feel great to be here at the best club in the world. I’m looking forward to getting started to start the season in the best shape possible. It was always my dream to play for Real Madrid. I managed to get my hands on an Iker Casillas shirt after a game with Genk several years ago. So I’m looking forward to stepping into his shoes.”
When asked if there any message to give to the Chelsea fans, the Belgium keeper said,
“A message for Chelsea fans? It was an important part of my career. I always wanted to win the Premier League, and I want to thank them for their support. I wish them all the best this season.”
Thibaut Courtois also played for Atletico Madrid on loan, and he also played the Champions League final with them against his new team Real Madrid. However, Courtois doesn’t expect any special treatment from the Atletico fans.
“I expect to be greeted by Atlético fans the same way as anyone who plays for Madrid. I have a lot of respect for Atleti. They took a chance on me and gave me an opportunity, and I thank them for that. But now I am at a club I have always wanted to play for. I don’t expect any special treatment.”
Real Madrid will play against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup Final on August 16.
