Transfer Latest: Bakayoko Joins AC Milan On Loan 1

Tiemoue Bakayoko has joined Seria A club AC Milan on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The deal is worth €35 million (£31m/$40m).

Bakayoko’s loan deal includes an option to buy for AC Milan.

Bakayoko had a terrible time with Chelsea in the English Premier League and faced a lot of criticism at Stamford Bridge. It was only about time for him to move out of the club and a loan deal was the first step of it.

The 23-year old midfielder passed the medical on Tuesday and he is set to take part in the 2018-19 Seria A.

AC Milan’s official website released a statement:
“AC Milan are pleased to announce the signing of French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea FC. The 23 year-old joins the club on a loan deal with an option to make the move permanent.”

“He was born in 17th August 1994 in Paris. His career started in his native France with Rennes before taking him to Monaco and Chelsea. The midfielder has two major honours to his name. He wwon the league title in 2017 with Monaco and then the FA Cup with Chelsea the year after. Bakayoko will be unveiled to the media in a press conference on Friday, August 17th.”

Bakayoko, after proving his worth in Monaco was signed by Chelsea for  £40m ($51m) in the summer of 2017. A lot was expected from his according to his potential. But it all fell apart when he failed consistently at Chelsea.

With the arrival of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, there seems no place for the French midfielder any more. Maurizio Sarri has deemed him surplus to requirements since inheriting the managerial reins from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge. And it has now  led Bakayoko to Milan with a chance to prove his worth once again.
