The Parts In Ozil's Statement Are Overshadowed By Nonsense - Kroos 1

German midfielder Toni Kroos has broken his silence to talk about the Mesult Ozil issue. He claims most of the reasons which Ozil stated are nonsense and racism doesn’t exist in the national team.

Toni Kroos has criticised his team-mate Mesut Ozil for taking retirement.

It all began when Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan were booed by the German fans in the friendly matches before the World Cup. They were booed because they met the Turkish President in May and the photographs went viral with the president.

After being consistently criticised because of the controversy and the performance in World Cup, Ozil decided to retire from International football stating disrespect and racism as reasons.

However, Ozil’s team-mate Kroos said the way he resigned was not in order. He also claimed that the Arsenal midfielder knows racism doesn’t exist in DFB and in the national team.

Kroos told Bild:
“The parts in his statement that are rightly addressed are unfortunately overshadowed by the significantly higher amount of nonsense. I think he knows very well that racism within the national team and the DFB does not exist.”

In the statement of Ozil, it says:
“In the eyes of Grindel and his supporters, I am German when we win, but I am an immigrant when we lose.”

Meanwhile, Kroos has no plan to take retirement any time soon. His eyes are already on the 2020 Euro and he want to take his career to another level.

“I will continue towards Euro 2020 and have set myself the goal of being far more successful there than in the recent past. I had a good talk with [coach] Joachim Low. We will find solutions together so that I can get a break here and there. For me, that’s the only way, and I am thankful for Jogi’s understanding.”
