Alexis Sanchez has some fitness issues regarding a calf injury, but Chile are desperate to use the Arsenal attacker despite fitness concern.
Sanchez is currently said to have been recovering from a groin problem which he sustained last month, but Arsenal boss Wenger used him in every match and he also featured for Chile in every match this season.
However, Arsene Wenger voiced his concern over the Chilean as long ago as December last year, when he revealed the 26-year-old attacker was very close to “red zone” regarding his fitness. Those comments were made on the back of 2014 Brazil World Cup where Sanchez was exceptional for Chile, before featuring in 50 matches for Arsenal last term. He then helped his country to win Copa America in the summer, then had a brief break and after that returned to action with Arsenal in the pre-season.
Last week The Mirror reported, Wenger have decided to rest Sanchez in the upcoming weeks after the international break, and give him some time to recharge the batteries to get back to his best form ahead of the crucial part of the season.
The former Barcelona star, who played against Colombia last Thursday as the match resulted with 1-1 draw, is reported to be waiting for a late fitness test for a calf problem before today’s World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay.
“Alexis has a pain in his calf and we will wait for him until the last minute to see if he is ready to play,” revealed Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli.
Chile are reported to be desperate to play Sanchez despite concerns of an existing injury or possible burnout.
Although, Sanchez is not at all concerned with the possibility of burn out and recently posted a video on Instagram, labelling: ‘Do you lack energy? I’ll send you mine!’
In the video, which already has received over 72,000 likes, Sanchez tells: “You’re tired! I’m sending you some energy!”
