France legend Thierry Henry is set to start his managerial career as he said yes to become Bordeaux’s head coach.

Henry is likely to start his managerial career.

According to reports, Henry has agreed to manager the Ligue 1 club. The final decision now rests with the club’s new owners General American Capital Partners (GACP).

Gus, Poyet, who was the current manager of Bordeaux has been sacked on Friday after he openly criticised the board for the handling of the transfer market. Despite the manager was in under contract, he has effectively been pushed out of his role. And now club is looking to appoint a high profile coach.

Jurgen Klinsmann and Laurent Blanc, who previously won Ligue 1 with Bordeaux, are two names who were linked with the post. However, Henry has emerged as the top choice.

The Arsenal legend was highly linked with the Egypt national team. But Henry denied the rumours after few days. However, it looks he is now closer than ever to become the manager of the Ligue 1 club.

Earlier, Bordeaux tried to offer Zinedine Zidane the opportunity to cut his teeth as a coach. But now GACP, who take control of the club in September, will now make the final.

Henry is currently the assistant coach of Belgium and his side was the semi-finalist of the World Cup in Russia. He is now interested to take on a new challenge and is now only waiting for a green signal from the GACP.

Meanwhile, the former French forward wished to know about the funding he will have to strengthen the squad. And whether he’d have flexibility in the market. He has already been in touch with former staff at Bordeaux in order to assess the current state of the team.
