The veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami has decided to call time on her T20I career. Goswami played 68 T20Is for Team India in which she scalped 56 wickets. She also led India in ten T20I matches in which India won eight matches.
Goswami had also taken a five-for which came while playing against Australia in 2012. Consequently, the experienced right-handed fast bowler gave her gratitude to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Furthermore, the lanky fast bowler gave her thanks to all of her teammates.
Meanwhile, Goswami has played 10 Test matches for the Indian team. She has played 169 One Day Internationals thus far. Therefore, India’s pack leader has taken 203 wickets. In fact, Jhulan Goswami was the first woman bowler to scale 200 ODI wickets. Goswami has scored 1011 runs with the bat for the Women in Blue.
Meanwhile, the BCCI team and her teammates have sent their best wishes to the veteran speedster.
On the other hand, Jhulan Goswami made her T20I debut against England in 2006 whereas she recently played her last T20I in the Asia Cup final against Bangladesh on June 10. India went on to lose the Asia Cup for the first time in the folklore of the tournament.
As Jhulan Goswami has decided to hang her boots from the shortest version of the game, the Indian team will have big shoes to fill for the upcoming T20I World Cup. The tournament will take in the West Indies in November.
Jhulan Goswami has been a prolific performer for the Indian team. However, she has decided to make way for the new generation at the age of 35 years.
