Before they take on Orissa in their next crucial Ranji Trophy match at Kalyani Stadium from 23rd November, Bengal team’s think-tank has instructed curator at Kalyani Stadium to build up the 22 yards in a way so that Bengal spinners can get help from the beginning of the match.
It has been learnt that after having earned three points against Maharastra in Pune Bengal team’s top brass including skipper Manoj Tiwari and team’s coach Sairaj Bahutule had confidential discussion about the team’s next home match against Orissa.
And it has also been learnt that Bengal team’s think-tank has observed that Orissa bowing is basically dependant on their two quality fast bowlers, Basant Mohanti and Surya Kumar Pradhan who have scalped 29 and 26 wickets, respectively, in their six matches in the ongoing premier cricket tournament so far. So, Bengal wants to earn full six points from this match by the help of its spinners.
Considering the current situation in the tournament Bengal is on the fifth position in the league table with 19 points in six matches. Now, to reach the last eight round forthcoming Orissa match is going to be a must-win match for Bengal. Skipper Manoj Tiwari said over phone from Pune on Wednesday evening, “I know Orissa match is going to be a must-win match for us. Even the next match against Assam after this Orissa match is also a must-win match for us. But we are now confident after having earned three points against Maharastra.”
CAB president Sourav Ganguly also seems confident of winning in next two matches. Ganguly, commenting on the issue, had a lot of praise specially, for Bengal’s new star batsman Sudip Chatterjee who has been in tremendous form, having scored five centuries in the Ranji Trophy.
