The International Cricket Council (ICC) today cleared the bowling action of Windies fast bowler Ronsford Beaton following remedial work and reassessment. Thus, he can now resume bowling again in international cricket.

ICC assessed Beaton’s remodeled bowling at Loughborough University in England on 13 August. After a thorough investigation, they revealed that the amount of elbow extension for all his deliveries was within the 15-degree level of tolerance that ICC permits.

However, match officials can still report if they believe he is displaying a suspect action. To assist the match officials, they will have images and video footage of the bowler’s remodeled legal bowling action.

Meanwhile, ICC suspended Ronsford Beaton following an ODI against New Zealand on December 24, 2017.

The 25-year-old fast bowler has represented Windies only in two ODI’s grabbing a solitary wicket. Ronsford Beaton gave a glimpse of his startling pace at Under-19 World Cup in 2012, where he picked up eight wickets in five matches. He broke through the first-class ranks for Guyana in 2011, but it wasn’t until 2012-13 that he was seen as a fast bowler meant for higher honours.

Beaton took 16 wickets in six matches in the Regional four-day competition, complemented it with seven wickets in five games in the subsequent T20 tournament and earned a deal with the CPL franchise Guyana Amazon Warriors. He has since moved to Trinbago Knight Riders.

This will be a massive boost for the Windies side who are going through a transition period. With the World Cup in sight, the management will look to settle the combinations as early as possible.
